Thyroid Health in Atlanta
Your thyroid sets the pace for your energy, weight, mood and heart rate. We treat underactive thyroid, overactive thyroid and Hashimoto's, explain every result, and look at your whole metabolism, not just one number.
Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune condition where the immune system slowly damages the thyroid. It is the most common cause of an underactive thyroid in the United States. It is diagnosed with thyroid blood tests and treated with thyroid hormone when levels run low. At MetaBridge in Atlanta, we manage Hashimoto's with labs, medication when needed, and a metabolic plan.
Your thyroid is like the gas pedal for your body. Too little gas, and everything slows down: energy, digestion, mood. Too much, and your engine races. Our job is to find the right speed for you.
Does this sound like you?
There's a reason you feel this way, and we'll look for it.
What may be going on
Is Hashimoto's the same as hypothyroidism?
Not exactly. Hashimoto's is the cause, and hypothyroidism is the result. Many people with Hashimoto's have normal thyroid levels for years before needing treatment, so we track your labs over time.
Is Hashimoto's linked to other autoimmune conditions?
Yes. People with Hashimoto's have higher rates of other autoimmune conditions, such as celiac disease, type 1 diabetes and vitamin B12 deficiency. We test when your symptoms point that way.
Can my thyroid affect my weight, cholesterol and blood sugar?
Yes. An underactive thyroid can raise cholesterol and cause mild weight gain. An overactive thyroid can cause weight loss and affect blood sugar. That's why we check your thyroid and metabolism together.
Can my thyroid affect my mood?
Yes. An underactive thyroid can cause low mood and brain fog. An overactive thyroid can cause anxiety, poor sleep and irritability.
Does a gluten-free diet or selenium help Hashimoto's?
Research is mixed. A gluten-free diet clearly helps people who also have celiac disease. For everyone else, the evidence is still early, so we test first and decide together.
Why do I still feel tired on thyroid medicine?
Sometimes the dose needs adjusting. Often, other causes are involved, such as low iron, low B12, poor sleep, perimenopause or blood sugar problems. We look for them.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I get Hashimoto's or thyroid treatment in Atlanta?
MetaBridge Health & Wellness, based in Atlanta, Georgia, offers clinician-led thyroid care by telehealth for adults in Georgia, Colorado and Utah. Care starts with a 60-minute consultation and comprehensive labs.
What are the symptoms of Hashimoto's?
Early on, there may be none. As thyroid levels drop, common symptoms include tiredness, feeling cold, constipation, dry skin, hair thinning, brain fog, low mood and weight gain.
What are the symptoms of an overactive thyroid?
Common symptoms include a racing heart, weight loss, shakiness, anxiety, trouble sleeping, heat intolerance and more frequent bowel movements.
How is Hashimoto's diagnosed?
With thyroid blood tests, including an antibody test that shows whether the immune system is involved. We choose the tests that fit your symptoms and explain every result.
Can Hashimoto's be reversed?
Hashimoto's is a long-term condition, but it is very manageable. With the right dose of medicine when needed, most people feel well and live normally.
Do you treat overactive thyroid?
Yes. We diagnose the cause and manage it with medication and close lab monitoring. Some people are best treated with radioactive iodine or surgery, and we refer you when that's the right path.
Should I stop biotin before my thyroid labs?
Yes. Biotin, found in many hair and nail supplements, can cause false thyroid results. We'll tell you how long to pause it before your blood draw.
Do I need labs?
Yes. Labs are part of every plan. Depending on your needs, testing may include functional metabolic labs, nutrient levels, gut health testing, hormone testing and inflammation markers. Your clinician chooses the tests that fit you and reads every result. Lab costs are separate from your visit.
Will you replace my primary care provider or specialists?
No. MetaBridge works as a consultant. You keep your primary care provider and any specialists, and we add a metabolic plan alongside their care.
